Since 1921, the Student Christian Movement has transformed the faith of countless students, and continues to be a unique place for students passionate about faith, social justice and community.
Our Senior Friends (alumni) and Allied Friends form a network of supporters who share their gifts, time, money and prayers to keep the movement strong and growing. Your offering enables today’s students become leaders.
As former National Representative Bre Woligroski said, “The SCM definitely makes a huge impact in people’s lives.” On behalf of today’s SCM generation, thank you for being part of that impact! Donations of Appreciated Shares are Exempt from Capital Gains Tax
Recent changes to Revenue Canada rules mean that you can make a donation of appreciated shares and get an income tax receipt for the full amount with out paying capital gains tax.

Remember SCM in Your Will: Share a legacy with students
One of the greatest ways you can strengthen SCM’s future is to leave a legacy gift for SCM in your will.
A will is one of the most important documents for a person to prepare. Supporting SCM means you’ll share a legacy with students – and a way of sharing your experience of empowerment, justice and community with future generations of SCMers.
As Senior Friend Audrey Tobias, founder of SCM’s Project Phoenix, says, “Bequests are important because the continuity of SCM is important.”
Many people choose to use their will as an opportunity to provide a gift to their favourite charities and organizations.

The Phoenix is rising! Set in motion by Senior Friends, Project Phoenix is a fundraising initiative aimed at encouraging life in the SCM. Many of you received Audrey Tobias’ letter in the fall of 2003 outlining the project.
Thanks to your generous donations we’ve been able to offer more direct support to local units throughout Canada – from St. John’s to Victoria, and been able to create and build a number of new campus groups!
We are still welcoming contributions toward the project.

Sponsor a student to National Conference
Donations ear-marked for Conference will be put towards travel subsidies, honoraria for workshop facilitators, food and accomodation.
With the General Assembly of the World Student Christian Federation (WSCF) – our the global network of SCMs in more than 100 countries – in Canada in 2008, it is an exciting time for SCM to connect internationally.
Donations for WSCF work can be sent through the National Office. Please mark them “for WSCF”.
The Friends of SCM Network is a loosely knit group of supporters and allies of the movement.
This group is made up of both alumni (Senior Friends) and allies of the movement.
Many are alumni who support and inspire today’s members – not only through generous financial support, but on our National Board, local volunteering, and sharing their stories, songs, and prayers.
Friends of SCM contribute the majority of SCM’s funding.
The National board of directors also includes a position for a Senior Friend.
A big thanks to our senior friends for all their help over the years.
Some Senior Friends are involved in a local advisory board. Most SCM local units have an advisory board to support the students and help keep the movement stable. They are the people behind the scenes in this student-led organization. Contact us to get involved in your local advisory board
