Every year, we host a conference where students from all over Canada come together for a week of social justice, learning, discussion, movement-building, and worship. Training and workshops in grassroots organizing, anti-oppression, and other tools relevant to the theme for each year are held.

Our chosen theme for this year is Beyond Borders. What are borders? How do they oppress and inhibit? Who creates, defines and controls geo-political borders? What are theological and spiritual borders and how do they separate us? What does border solidarity look like? How can we challenge political, social, religious and physical borders and barriers? We hope to explore ways that, as a movement operating within traditional Indigenous territories and living amidst multiple and connected structures of oppression, we can strive to live out our solidarity.

The SCM is a youth- and student-led grassroots network passionate about social justice, community in diversity, and radical faith in action. Founded in 1921 and rooted in the social gospel movement and a global federation of SCMs, we are students active in liberating theology, and progressive spiritual activism inspired by the Christian tradition to fight oppression and struggle for a better world. Rooted in our mission, our Living Prayer, and a history of ‘turning over the tables’ since 1921, we welcome people of all beliefs and backgrounds, including the full spectrum of the church, interfaith, questioners and seekers.

We hope you can join us for a weekend of engaging in the transformative work of faith in action.
