Prayer of Solidarity with SCM Australia

01/16/2011

Loving God,
We offer you thanks for the many blessings we have in our lives, both
the blessings we recognize and those we dont.
We offer our thanks that we are safe at the moment and give thanks for
the safety of those we love.
Today we uphold to you those that have been affected by flooding in
Queensland.
We ask that you give your comfort to those that have lost their homes
and are experiencing displacement.
We ask that you bring a sense of hope to farmers that have fought so
hard through the droughts of the past decade, only to have lost
everything to the rain that they longed for.
We remember those who have lost their lives and all those who mourn
them.
We offer our thanks for the emergency services and volunteers who are
offering what they can to help alleviate the suffering and danger to
people affected.
We ask that, rather than looking to the circumstances of their lives,
people look to you to find the comfort and strength that they need to
move forward with optimism.
Above all, God, we give thanks that in the heart of such tradegy, your
love is so evident in the actions and concerns of so many people, as
they flock to offer assisstance in the midst of such worrying and
fearful times.
Amen.
