SCM revises Pilgrimage dates (Nov 19-23), deadline extended

The dates of SCM’s Pilgrimage of Resistance programme have been revised
this week, as we solidify our itinerary for this year’s ‘empire & alternatives’
exposure tour. Instead of leaving on Nov 18, we will be departing Thursday
morning, Nov 19, and returning Monday, Nov 23. And there a few spots remaining
in the vans, so you have until Nov 8 to register.

With some details to be ironed out, participants will journey towards the 20,000-person mass vigil at the gates of the School of Americas in Fort Benning, Georgia, which is the largest ongoing peace gathering in US history. On the way, we visit communities living an alternative vision for social justice;

some route possibilities for this year’s trip include joining up with members of the new SCM-USA from Yale, Conecticut, and Berea College, Kentucky; visits to intentional communities such as the Simple Way (Philadelphia), Dorothy Day Catholic Worker (Washington DC), Jubilee Partners (Comer, Georgia), Duncan & Porter Catholic Worker (Pittsburgh).
