Join the Movement!

Are you passionate about liberation and justice? Are you looking for a safer space to be yourself and celebrate God’s gifts for us? Are you dreaming of being part of a community that shares this vision?

Do you want to learn about and resist oppression? Are you asking how Christianity can support human rights, social justice and the transformation of our world? Do you dream of Christian unity and want to share in fellowship, worship and action?

The SCM is a place for you. There are lots of opportunities to get involved or join the movement, including an online discussion forum, email list, and lots of creative resources to help you organize, campaign, and build community around the vision.

The Student Christian Movement of Canada is a national network of students, led by youth and students, exploring the ‘prophetic teachings of the revolutionary Jesus of Nazareth.’ SCM is a unique place where youth can do activism, community and spirituality. Grounded in anti-oppression and a radical history, SCM is a movement that values grassroots leadership, transformative experiences, and diverse spiritual practice.

You can get involved in a Working Group of students organizing a particular aspect of SCM’s life, from magazine publishing to button-making, finances and fundraising to global exchanges.

You can attend one of our general programs, such as General Conference or Pilgrimage of Resistance, or regional retreats and events that happen about once a school term.

You can subscribe to our magazine, All Things New, or order/download a wide range of resources, from t-shirts to devotionals, or even help design or suggest new ideas.

The most common way of being involved, however, is the Local Unit. We have local units across the country, and these form the autonomous building blocks for our movement.
