Greetings from the new Ottawa SCM Coordinator
Hi everyone! My name is Emily Sams, I use she/her pronouns and I am super excited to be part of the Student Christian Movement community. Faith and justice are two key pillars in my life and the radical love of SCM Ottawa is energizing and life giving.
So here’s a little bit about me! I’ve been involved in church, specifically the United Church of Canada, for my entire life. My mom is an ordained minister, I was a camp counsellor for the Presbyterian Church of Canada for two summers and I used to run a free meal program, called the Open Table (check it out- it’s great!) for university students through the Anglican church. All in all, I’m a pretty big fan of youth ministry.
I’m currently in my 4th year of Conflict Studies and Human Rights with a minor in Women’s Studies at the University of Ottawa but I’m going to be working for Public Safety as a Junior Communications Officer from September to December. I’m involved in the leadership of a super cool organization called Ontario Youth Parliament as the Premier and I’m also in a sorority. I’m deadly allergic to nuts & peanuts.
My interests/passions/topics I like to ramble about are feminism, politics, how cute animals (specifically small fluffy dogs) are, and crafting.
So that’s me! I would love to get to know you over tea so please feel free to send me an email or message through Facebook at any time.
