SCM changed my life.

It’s really amazing people, really incredible people. I’ve learned so much from all of my contacts in SCM, and am really glad that I’ve been a part of it. And I still am – I’m really excited to see the movement grow and keep going. There’s so many great things that we can do.

We’re very much bottom-up; things are actually run by the students. That’s why we consider ourselves more of a movement than an organization. Each student group in each university is autonomous, so they can pick and choose what they want to do, what they’re passionate about, what they want to focus on for that year, what sort of programmes they’re interested in.

The SCM as a whole is concerned with giving the local movement the resources they need to actually get things done. So it’s very much bottom-up. SCM Canada exists to support and resource the local movements, and not to dictate what they should be spending their time on.

Conference is incredible. It’s just so encouraging and heartening to meet people from all across Canada. I’ve met so many wonderful people, so many good friends.

We’re unified in our passion for justice, in our passion for working in solidarity with those who are oppressed, and also in our faith.

We’re unified in our faith, whether it be Christian faith, and we have a number of interfaith students who are all bonded by the meaning that we give to our personal and communal faith. It is really good to meet with other people who are interested in working in the same areas.

Where’s the movement going? What do we want to do this year? What do we want to accomplish? How are we going to bring the words of Jesus into our society?
